When it comes to skin care, I get serious. My mom has always taught me the importance of taking care of your skin and implementing a good skin care routine.  I remember when I lived at home every night I would walk in her room she would have a jar of night cream on the night stand open and slathering it on her face.  I used to cringe just thinking what would happen if I put all that on my face overnight. But let me tell you.. I know first hand that the effort she has put into her skin, all those creams and potions have paid off.  My mom looks at least 20 years younger than she is and everyone who knows her can vouch for me on this.  Skincare is SO important!

Through college I struggled with hormonal breakouts.  All throughout high school and my teens I literally never had a breakout.  When I turned 23 my skin went crazy and it was all due to a change in my hormones.  Despite all this- I knew I had to fight through and not give up on still incorporating skin care into my daily routine.  In the past few months after seeking treatment, a round of antibiotics and Rodan & Fields my skin has finally calmed down enough so I can start doing more preventative skin care.

I had been dying to try dermaplaning.  Dermaplaning is an exfoliation technique using a razor or scalpel that shaves off the dead skin off of your face.  Yuck!   You seriously don't even realize how many dead skin cells have accumulated on the surface of your skin.  Along with dead skin cells, it also takes away all the baby hairs on your face so when finished your face is baby smooth.

Michael Todd beauty recently came out with the SonicSmooth Dermaplaning system which allows you to do this treatment painlessly from the comfort of your home! I was so excited and nervous to try the first time.  I use several chemical exfoliators and exfoliate manually and chemically at least twice a week and it was amazing that I still had so much on the surface of my skin.  You work in small sections and move the tool along your skin at a 40 degree angle.  After dermaplaning my entire face - it was red like I had just had a chemical peel.  This is completely normal and good for the skin since it is bringing the blood to the surface and healing the tiny microscopic wounds. After finishing you slather on the after treatment gel which is a soothing aloe vera gel.  I woke up the following morning with noticeably smoother and even toned skin.  My makeup went on so much easier and smoother.  I follow up every 10-14 days.  I truly love and recommend this system.  I am extremely choosy when it comes to skin care and this is something I absolutely would recommend everyone trying!

It has finally cooled down enough that I can get by wearing a cardigan and boots in Florida.  This one is super thin and light weight which makes it a great transition piece and can be worn all year round. Its under $25 and you can find it here.  Its so funny because the people who have lived in Florida most or all of their lives have been bundling up like were in the Arctic every since the temps dipped in the 70s and I'm still burning up and sweating just from walking to the car.  I'm hot natured and I love the cool weather but when you're used to 0 degree weather in Kentucky through the winter I could probably get by wearing shorts for the rest of the "winter" and be just fine! Don't ask me why I live in Florida.  Matt thinks I'm crazy because I constantly burn up and I despise the heat.  Were actually going home back to Kentucky  to visit for Christmas so I'm so excited to bring out my coat and have cool weather for a few days.

The time of the year for all the best sales is finally here! The best part is a lot of stores have already started their sales early! Loft has 40% off everything right now and Express has 50% off.  I'm linking some of my faves from Loft below.  Be sure to check back on the blog this week because I'll have a tab with some of my favorites and best deals for Black Friday.  What do you all shop for on Black Friday?  Do you brave the crowds or online shop? I'd love to hear from you guys!

Is it just me or is summer flying by?!?!  I'm not going to complain too much because we will be having family visit the entire first week of July and I am SO excited.  It feels like I haven't seen any familiar faces (besides Matt) in forever.  We moved almost 4 months ago from Kentucky to Tampa so we are super excited to see some familiar faces next month.  My cousin Miranda, her husband and their little girl Chloe are coming to visit for a few days and then my brother Jake and his girlfriend Laura are coming down right after.  Since I spend almost all of my time alone, I can't wait to have them in our guest apartment for a straight week here in Tampa!

I'm sure you all have seen this top pasted all over Instagram but its the most adorable thing ever.  You can pair it with shorts and sandals for the summer or jeans with wedges or heels.  Its also 40% off right now so you can get it for a major steal with code NEWNOW here.  I'm linking my entire outfit below.  Hope you all have a great rest of your week!

Yellow Gingham Sun Dress

Happy Wednesday!

Doesn't this dress just scream sunshine?! I wanted to share it with you guys because I'm loving it. I shared it on Instagram a couple of days ago and I apologize that I couldn't get it linked on LikeToKnowIt but I've linked it here so you can go grab it now.  Its only $39 and is perfect for summer. It's so cute with wedges but I also think it would look so cute dressed down with just a pair of white sneakers. I've been recovering and catching up all week from the weekend that we spent in Daytona at the Country 500 festival.  It was amazing and there were so many awesome artists we got to see but I think we will take it easy and relax this weekend.  What are your plans for the weekend?!

March Favorites

Pixie Beauty Skin Treats- Glow Mud Cleanser- I've been using this for about a month now and I like it better than any other cleanser I've ever tried.  I think its the glycolic acid ingredient in it that has had a positive effect on my skin.  I am considering investing in the Rodan & Fields line but if this one continues to deliver, I may just stick with this one.

Kate Somerville Cyto-Cell- To be honest, I wasn't that impressed with some of the products that I've tried of hers.  They're super expensive and most of them didn't measure up to the price. However, this eye cream does seem to make my dark circles less prominent in the morning.  Plus, I like to think I'm diminishing my likelihood of getting pre-mature aging on my eye area.

Marc Jacobs Remarcable Foundation- This has became a must have for me in the beauty department. Super expensive but so worth it! It literally takes a few drops to get a full coverage look for your entire face.  The only downside to this is the staying power and it does transfer... I use the Becca Cosmetics power with it and I've found that makes it last a lot longer throughout the day.

Soap & Glory- The Righteous Butter- Picked this up at Target and it smells amazing. I normally don't wear body lotion often because I hate the feeling but this one dries and doesn't feel sticky like others I've tried.  It also really helps with dry skin.

St. Tropez Mousse Dark- I picked this up at Sephora and love it.  When you first put it on the color guide will give you a super olive color (literally green) but don't freak out because it washes off and isn't close to the color tan it actually gives you.  I like this because you can be careless while applying and you still don't get spotty.  It also comes off super evenly and doesn't get yucky looking after it starts to wear off. It lasts on me about 5 days and the bottle includes enough for probably 6-10 applications.  It was around $30 for the bottle so much cheaper than a spray tan subscription.

Altar'd State Bracelet- I've been eyeing the David Yurman bracelets lately and giving Matt hints that is what I want for my birthday but because its so pricey- I found this dupe to last until I (fingers crossed) get a David Yurman.  They're so similar its crazy and this one was under $15! It wouldn't allow me to link this one below but here is the link.

Hope you all enjoyed my favorites from last month. Thanks for stopping by!!
